Construction of a new regional training facility started in August 2024. HFR has partnered with West Virginia Public Service Training, Mountain State College, and the West Virginia Department of Emergency Management to develop this real-world educational campus. With support from the City of Hurricane and the Putnam County Commission, the construction of the Hurricane Regional Training Academy (HRTA) is in its second phase. Multiple burn buildings paired with state-of-the-art technical rescue and hazardous materials props set the stage for professional development for all regional first responders.
